Yesterday, was 5 weeks since our surgery!! I've currently lost 31.2 pounds!!
OK, This is going to be a somewhat short post. It's going to be a bit TMI. So, unless you want to know certain details about me that I wouldn't normally talk about, or post about, turn away now!!
Leah, of Leah's VSG Journey on YouTube, is very open about the good, the bad, and the ugly. There won't be any pictures of me in anything but full clothing!! No one will ever see me in anything that shows skin. Or see how my skin looks as I continue to lose. That's not me! But some other things she talks about is what the change in lifestyle does to your body. So, here goes....
Three days before surgery we were required to take a laxative. I've never taken one before. That, along with 3 days of an all-liquid diet made my digestive system go a little nuts!! It wasn't pleasant!! Nothing but diarrhea until the morning of surgery. Then it started again two days after surgery it started again. It was so bad that I could barely leave my room one day. It actually continued for two or three weeks after surgery. However, the last week I've started having the opposite problem. I'm now constipated!! This is a first in my life! A friend of mine that's about to have the surgery said her surgeon told her this would happen because you're on the verge of dehydration all the time! And I know that if I could get in more water every day that would definitely help. But I'm lucky to get in 4 or 5 glasses a day!
To resolve the problem I've done a little research online. I want to do this as naturally as possible. However, the natural remedies call for adding extra calories into my day. So, I had some Milk of Magnesia last night and I took two, instead of one, magnesium this morning. It has helped today. I'm going to provide the link to the all-natural home remedies for y'all. But, if you have any non-calorie remedies, please let me know!!

Update: I spoke to a friend of mine last night after I posted this. She had VSG a few years ago. She said not going every day is the way it is after the surgery. And because we're not eating nearly as much, it's just the way it will be!
Natural to only go every two or three days at first even three or four days! You are doing fine!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Helen!! It's great to have help from my friends!!
